Director Jon Favreau recently confirmed rumours that he has cast the titler role of Tony Stark aka Iron Man in the upcoming comic book movie. It was previously reported that several actors were up for the role including Tom Cruise, and then Terrence Howard popped up but was quickly confirmed to be playing the sidekick role of Jim Rhodes aka War Machine. So who is Iron Man? Robert Downey Jr.

Favreau had this to say, “It is true. Robert Downey Jr. is Tony Stark. I am about as excited as I can be. I saw what he can do and he is extremely enthusiastic about playing Stark. I can say with absolute certainty that there is no better choice. The humour and emotional dimension he brings truly raises the bar on this project. Get ready.”

I actually like this choice; Robert Downey Jnr. is a great actor, shares a resemblance to Tony Stark and definitely has experience in playing/being an alcoholic.
