With the Australian Wii launch on the 7th, retailers nation wide were overwhelmed with the response.
Within 4 days, approximately 32,901 units were sold across the country. This breaks the XBOX 360’s record of 30,421 units at launch.
Seems the Wii really is appealing to a wide audience, as Nintendo intended.

Sony have had a few questionable marketing campaigns over the past. Their graffiti movement comes to mind, when last year they covered American capital cities with PSP graffiti as advertisement, only to be forced to pay $20,000 to have it removed. It seems that Square-Enix are going all out on portable gaming now. With the recent release of Final Fantasy 3 for NDS, what they’ve titled as the “Ivalice Alliance” project is underway.
