Rambo trailer 2

Speaking of old dudes returning to star in action movies…

So far the trailers and clips for the upcoming 4th Rambo film, simply titled Rambo (previously John Rambo) have all been gory, visceral, manly reminders of the bare plot dumb action flicks of the 70′s and 80′s that I spent inordinate amounts of time watching. This of course means I’m going to be first in line to see Rambo with my bandana and bloody machete ready.

Fun “Fact”: If you don’t like watching a 60 year old man rip out a random Burmese guys throat with his bare hands then there’s something wrong with you.

Eidos Montreal opened to work on Deus Ex 3

Recently Eidos opened doors to the new Eidos Montreal office in Canada, to work solely on Deus Ex 3! While news of the mega-FPS sequel has been around for some time, this official statement means that work is well and truely underway and new revolations for Deus Ex 3 will begin to surface.

The original Deus Ex games were beyond a blockbuster, defining the FPS genre for the time and receiving many game of the year awards.

Whatever happened to ION Storm and their original crew, I’m not sure. Hopefully some big names will be on this one, though we can generally trust Eidos and their move with the series.

The next big question is what platforms Deus Ex 3 will appear on, and when. The original Deus Ex originally launched on PC, to eventually make it to the MAC and PS2 in what was generally considered a more polished experience. The sequel Deus Ex: Invisible War launched simultaneously on PC and XBOX, so chances are quite good of seeing Deus Ex 3 on some consoles.

Review: Lions for Lambs

Lions for Lambs poster
It’s nice to be surprised. Judging from the trailers in which a stern faced Tom Cruise asks: “do you want to win the war on terror; yes or no?” I had expected a big dumb film which glorified the giant clusterfuck which is America’s war on terror. The opening moments seemed to assert this idea. It begins with a series of extreme close ups of documents (including graphs showing ‘confidence on winning the war on terror’), Tom Cruise as a preachy, warmongering senator and a ridiculous musical score full of pounding notes of doom. But then it changes, subverts your initial expectations and becomes something else. Lions for Lambs is actually a smart film which debates the present state of the war, making clever use of simultaneous story threads to create a thought provoking hour and a half. So instead of slagging it, I now get to discuss intelligently discuss and evaluate this highly political film.

Bazura07 tonight @ 8:30PM!

The best show on C31 and one of the best movie shows ever, The Bazura Project is back-ish. Well Lee and Shannon are back but this time teaming up with C31′s The Breakfast Show host Emma Race and 2006 Class Clowns winner Adam Knox for the Election 2007: Countdown to a Letdown. After a couple of years using their razor sharp (or at least blunt but jagged and rusty) wit to attack the fools who dare to entertain us with moving pictures, the guys are now going one on however many candidates there are and taking on the 2007 election.

ELECTION 2007: COUNTDOWN TO A LETDOWN is the funniest election coverage you’re likely to see. Except for The Chaser. And Micallef will probably do something really good. And Ray Martin always cracks us up. But if you discount them, we’re the ones you’re going to want to watch. Join Adam Knox, Shannon Marinko, Emma Race and Lee Zachariah on Election Eve (Friday the 23rd of November) for our countdown… to a letdown.

MELBOURNE
C31
Friday 23rd @ 8:30PM

Stream it online later tonight at the Official Site

Fun “Fact”: The Bazura Project is the only C31 show I have ever liked and I think they deserve to picked up on another channel. Seriously, just check out all the nice things I have said about them.

The Heartbreak Kid Competition *Finished*

Thank you to everyone who entered, the winners will be contacted shortly and have their prizes sent out to them. If you didn’t win don’t worry we have more competitions coming soon. Enjoy!

Paramount Pictures are giving TEN lucky Space Meat readers the chance to win a double pass to see the upcoming new comedy from the Farrelly brothers, The Heartbreak Kid starring Ben Stiller.

For your chance to win this great prize all you have to do is email your full name and mailing address to competition@space-meat.com. Good Luck!

Unmarried and just turned 40, sporting goods store owner Eddie Cantrow (Ben Stiller) is on the sidelines of the dating game when he attends the wedding of his former fiancée. Feeling like the whole world has paired off except him, and egged on by his libidinous octogenarian father Doc (Jerry Stiller) and henpecked married friend Mac (Rob Corddry), Eddie is primed for a romance. Now all he needs is the girl.

After he interrupts an apparent mugging on the streets of San Francisco, Eddie meets Lila (Malin Akerman) and the pair quickly embarks on a whirlwind romance, which leads to a hasty proposal. On the way to Mexico for their honeymoon, Eddie discovers his new bride not only has the face of an angel, but a trucker’s vocabulary and a nearly insatiable appetite for hilariously athletic sex. By the time they reach the swanky resort, Lila has transformed from a gentle and sweet life partner into a crass, tequila-swigging wench with a sordid past, leaving Eddie wondering what he’s gotten himself into.

After Lila refuses to leave their hotel room because of the sunburn to end all sunburns, Eddie consoles himself at the bar where he strikes up a casual conversation with Miranda (Michelle Monaghan), a laid-back high school lacrosse teacher who is as wholesome and grounded as Lila is flighty. Soon, the miserable newlywed is manufacturing excuses to leave his bride behind and spend time with Miranda. As he falls for Miranda’s down home allure, Eddie tries his best to level with both women. But a series of misunderstandings leads to a wildly funny confrontation among a man, two women and a Portuguese man o’ war.

Review: Dynasty Warriors DS: Fighter’s Battle (NDS)

Developer : Koei
Publisher : Koei
Available On : Nintendo DS

For the Sony cows among us who like to compare consoles and system war, the alternate Dynasty Warriors handheld titles on the market would serve as a good comparison. While the Dynasty Warriors games available for Playstation Portable may not be the best titles out there, they serve as a convincing port of a fun yet drawn-out console series. Meanwhile, on the DS, Dynasty Warriors DS: Fighter’s Battle shapes up to be a 2 hour romp in a world that makes the Super Nintendo visually shine.
