Duke Forever… on track.

dukeforever.jpgThe seismically turbulent development path of Duke Nukem Forever had another slight trip today.

The online counterpart for American news publishment the Dallas Business Journal jumped their guns a bit by reporting an alleged confirmation of a release of DNF this year for PC, XBOX 360 and PS3.

Originally quoting Steve Miller of 3D Realms, the story was then later altered enough to more brush the possibility of a release this year.

Not long later a Mr. Broussard (3D Realms) stepped in with the all-confirming official word posted on their own forums here.

While 3D Realms are adament in holding back any release date plans they may have, quotes from Mr. Broussard such as

“In what appears to be an unfortunate turn of events, there seems to have been some confusion between what was ‘off the record’ and what was not. I suppose we’re used to dealing with gaming press and not mainstream press. Lesson learned.”

lead me to notice that 3D Realms never really deny any of the quotes used by Steve Miller or the DBJ, such as

“Duke Nukem Forever confirmed for 2008, coming to Xbox 360, PlayStation 3″ ( – DBJ)

or deny a 2008 release. All they say is “we’re not sharing”.

It’s hard to tell if this is story holds any significant revelation. The fact that the DBJ altered their story pretty quickly from the general press response shows they may have been up to shifty work, but the responses from 3D Realms suggest they are quite on track and the multi-platform concept seems pretty solid.

I’m expecting to hear some more big news on this in the near future.
