There’s no doubt we’re in the hottest phase of the Command & Conquer franchise to date. Not only are C&C 3: Tiberium Wars servers running hot in anticipation for the upcoming expansion ‘Kane’s Wrath’, the recently announced FPS / RTS currently named ‘Tiberium’ also whet many an appetite for more C&C action, six years after the decent FPS – C&C: Renegade.

So now that we’re looking at Red Alert 3, the C&C name could be commanding and conquering FPS and RTS scenes across PC and home consoles for some time to come.

Serving as a spin-off to the C&C series, the Red Alert games always easily held a candle to the original titles, possibly close enough to burn down a few Zeppelins. In fact when most people think C&C, past Red Alert titles are first to spring to mind.

The concept for Red Alert 3 is looking great. Facing off the Soviets, the Allies and The Empire of the Rising Sun in a futuristic setting filled with wacky and inventive devices, this’ll really spice things up a bit and hopefully add a playful edge for those who like to expand their minds a bit beyond expected warfare.

EA have put a website up already, but there’s no details on a release date as of yet. For now, anyone eager can look forward to beta access packaged in the upcoming ‘Kane’s Wrath’ expansion for C&C 3 or; Command & Conquer 3 Limited Collection coming later this year.

“…weapons and technologies such as Tesla coils, heavily armed War Blimps, teleportation, armored bears, intelligent dolphins, floating island fortresses, and transforming tanks.”

Bear cavalry? I’m down.

SWEET! RA2 is one of my all time favourite games. I hope this one involves a time travelling Einstein as well.
