Guitar Hero : Aerosmith

While I can think of many much better suited bands to present their own Guitar Hero title, this team up will be pretty cool for those who… like Aerosmith, I guess. Of course Aerosmith are big enough to justify such a stand alone title featuring hits like ‘Don’t Want To Miss A Thing’ and ‘Sweet Emotion’, but this one is to include a few tracks from other artists who have supported Aerosmith over the years.

If you’re a fan of Aerosmith here’s something to look forward to. The band themselves seem to be getting very involved, with the game career mode emulating the past experiences of their rise to fame. The band themselves had some input on announcement -

Joe Perry (guitar) – “We’ve put a lot of ideas into the game so that fans can have fun interacting with our music, getting inside our body of work and learning about the band’s history.”

“On a larger scale, it’s cool for us to be pioneers helping to rebuild the music industry through a format like video games. It’s great for rock since the record companies are struggling to make sense of how things are changing. Fans want to get and experience music in new formats–and there are going to be some of them who will play the game, then pick up the guitar for real and start bands. It’s what’s happening now, and it’s only going to build more momentum in the future. It’s a massive change for the music business.”

While I don’t believe the music industry needs any rebuilding (especially any that Aerosmith can do) he’s playing the right note there, one I can whole heartedly support.

Guitar Hero : Aerosmith is set for XBOX 360, Playstation 3 and Nintendo Wii in June.
