Universal Pictures and Take Two have confirmed a partnership in the production of a Bioshock film with no ETA to date.

Gore Verbinski of Pirates of the Caribbean fame will be in the director’s chair, also working production but with all recent announcements details beyond this are few and unknown.

Bioshock was praised by many and myself for it’s rich dialogue, involving story and immersive environment. With a solid director and two big budget names backing it, a Bioshock film may be just what the games-to-movie world needs.

That is going to be awesome, I can’t wait! Seeing a world like that fully recreated on film would be amazing.

see, the problem here like most ‘fps to movie’ movies is that there is nothing that we know about the main character. We know his relationships and how he got there and who he is but it’s kinda hard to act a voiceless character…

It’s not hard to have a voiceless character. Take claude from GTA3, or… er… silent bob?

The story was told using a voiceless character in the game to increase the players’ involvement and make it feel more like they are the character. This has been used in many games in the past and is quite effective. There would be no reason to even try to do that in the movie what so ever. However they could (and should, and probably will) leave the majority of the character a mystery (at least at first).

Aww… But blasting people with plasmids is the best time to yell silly catch phrases.

‘I’m going to have to FREEZE your assets’
‘I’ll be taking my leave, something tells me you’ll BEE awhile.’

    … heh
