A demo for the upcoming action adventure title Star Wars The Force Unleashed will be available on XBOX Live and the Playstation Network come August 21st.

Much hype has been surrounding this game and rightly so considering both the technical and conceptual promises surrounding force powers and our new Star Wars anti-villain, The Apprentice.

The Force Unleashed will follow a Star Wars side-story set between episodes III and IV and while small bridges in the Star Wars story are expected the use of LucasArts’ own new Digital Molecular Matter engine alongside NaturalMotion’s Euphoria physics engine (as seen in Grand Theft Auto IV) leave some impressive expectations.

The demo in fact has a specific force training mode included so hopefully there will be some skillful implementation of force powers for players to learn and master.

So get in the demo early! Of course the demo is open only for those with a PS3 or 360 on their respective online service, those waiting for Krome’s version of The Force Unleashed on Wii, PS2 and PSP will have to wait for a hard copy demo or full release.

“Star Wars: The Force Unleashed completely re-imagines the scope and scale of the Force by taking full advantage of newly developed technologies that will be seen and experienced for the first time together: Digital Molecular Matter, by Pixelux Entertainment, and euphoria by NaturalMotion Ltd.” – Press Release

“The demo gives players a taste of one of the early levels in the game: the TIE Fighter Construction Facility, under siege by a Jedi General named Rahm Kota.  The Secret Apprentice has been sent by Darth Vader to hunt down and destroy the General, but is also told that, in order to remain a secret, he is to leave no witnesses.” – Press Release
