As California freezes over with Blizzard’s media event BlizzCon underway news has been revealed of the future release plans of upcoming RTS StarCraft II as a trilogy.

Each single player campaign in StarCraft II will be packaged as a stand alone story specific to a certain race with Terrans: Wings Of Liberty shipping first in the planned sequential releases followed by Zerg: Heart Of The Swarm then Protoss: Legacy Of The Void.

While each story is promised to be an isolated saga with a conclusion, many are still wondering in what shape multiplayer will take across three different versions and a big factor, pricing.

A release date is still unknown.

I don’t mean to be cynical but to be honest I’m surprised it’s even being worked on, blizzard seem better at MySQL databases than next-gen graphics.

I hope they find a way to digitally distribute these games for multiplayer because as you said, Discs + Multiplayer is going to be inconvenient. Making it so you didn’t need the frozen throne CD for warcraft 3 was one of the more refreshing patches the game received.
