E3 2009: Team Ninja To Create Next Metroid Wii Title

E3 2009 is already wrapped up for another year but the effects of the news and announcements will ripple through the gaming community for many more months to come.

Perhaps not the biggest, but one of the more surprising announcements came from a Mr. Reggie Fils-Aime at Nintendo’s press conference early on in the event when a trailer for the next Metroid game on the Wii was revealed.

It wasn’t just amazing to see Samus flipping out again on the Wii, the most notable side to this announcement is simply the fact that Team Ninja (Dead Or Alive; Ninja Gaiden) are working on a Metroid game and the possibilities in crazy action-based gameplay this collaboration could allow.

Just check out the trailer and see for yourself, clearly Other M won’t be quite like the Metroid Prime series of first person shooters. The third person view shown should allow a bit more control for Samus and a few new abilities, with some form of isometric 2D gameplay also bringing back a nostalgia feel.

As much as I loved the Prime series…this looks absolutely fantastic and a breath of fresh air on the Metroid series!
