E3 2009: Left 4 Dead 2
Shown during Microsoft’s press conference at E3 was a trailer for Left 4 Dead 2, the sequel to 2008′s popular zombie apocalypse simulator.
Set on the south side of America, Left 4 Dead 2 will star 4 new survivors as they trek from Georgia to Louisiana in another attempt for survival against hordes of infected, special infected and Tanks in overalls.
The trailer shows off new melee weapons such as chainsaws, axes and baseball bats all being used in the stark daylight – so despite a lack of gameplay footage in the trailer we can already see the focus of some of the changes.
There’s one big problem with all of this though. That’s the fact that the last zombie apocalypse hasn’t quite finished yet. Left 4 Dead was released November 18th 2008, and with it’s sequel being given a release date of November 17th this year that makes it just less than one year for a full follow-up to be available in stores.
It seems some people aren’t pleased with this, myself included, who only at the beginning of the year bought Left 4 Dead with plans of the Surivival Pack finally adding enough content to consider the title a full game. Now any hopes for the extensive DLC promised for Left 4 Dead are pretty much squelched, with a sequel already well on it’s way, it’s either time to hand over the cash for another full game or be left behind as the player base segregates and most people move on.
Over 25,000 Steam members have already gathered together in the Left 4 Dead 2 Boycott community group, so check out the trailer below and let us and the community know what you think.
