The International Digital Entertainment Festival is on again this year hosting 3 great events across one weekend including Australia’s biggest gaming expo eGames. Normally home to other forms of art and nearby the Melbourne Museum, the Royal Exhibition Centre will house the convention this year opening it’s doors to a different kind of artistic connoisseur, the digital entertainment fan.

Taking place from the 30th of October to the 1st of November the gamer’s event of eGames partners well with the presence of the Digital Lifestyle Show and the Develop ICT Skills and Careers Expo so even if you’re not a gamer but just a fan of the digital art there’ll be a lot to see and do at this year’s iDef convention.

Of course for the gamers there’s sure to be the regular array of top publishers and developers letting the public get their hands on recent and unreleased games across every platform like the years before. The official eGames site is launching soon so stick around for the announcement on exactly who to expect sampling their wares at the event this November.

Tickets are on sale now from the official site that’s also a great source for event updates and news as we learn of what’s in store for iDef 2009. Start getting ready now!

Royal Exhibition Building? Hells yes for the change in venue. The Melbourne Exhibition Centre may be huge, but it’s a far walk from any decent cafes or food places. Plus the Royal Exhibition Building has a tonne more character.

That said does anyone actually go to anything but eGames at iDef? The Digital Lifestyle show just seemed to be the tech section of a Harvey Norman to me. Although the careers aspect of iDef is probably useful to people.
