Melbourne is lucky enough to get a plethora of pop and geek culture events each year but if you’re anything like me, it’s never enough!
Now just a week away is one of the most exciting events to hit Australia: Oz Comic-Con.
Oz Comic-Con is an expo featuring content from all genres of pop-culture, featuring film and television stars, comic book and anime artists, gaming demonstrations and cosplay competitions, and even creative workshops and master classes. But of course the main draw will be the stars themselves, so I’ve put together a must see, greet and photograph list of stars that are attending Oz Comic-Con.
A comic artist who has worked on Marvel series’ such as Iron Man, The Phantom, Buckaroo Banzai, and Cthulhu Tales. Chewie also worked as a storyboard and conceptual artist on hit films Happy Feet and Superman Returns, but it’s his tales of working on the aborted Justice League: Mortal and upcoming Mad Max: Fury Road that interest us the most.
A successful voice actor, Chris is most known for voicing Vegeta, Piccolo and many more in the hit Anime, Dragonball Z. Not to mention his power level is over 9000!
Sean Maher played the charming Dr Simon Tam in the cult series Firefly. As well as staring in the short lived drama The Playboy Club and appearing in dozens of other TV shows including The Mentalist, Human Target and Warehouse 13. Get ready to swoon ladies.
He was the star of one of the best teen shows of the 90s, Parker Lewis Can’t Lose, and we’re all still waiting for his character “Jonas Quinn” to get his own spinoff Stargate spinoff. As well as having a recuring role in last years season of Supernatural, Corin stretched comedic muscle once again in the hit web series Star-ving along-side fellow child actor, David Faustino.
Mitch is known for stand out performances on television for the better part of 3 decades and nearly 100 roles. Some of his most recent highlights include major roles in Supernatural, Sons of Anarchy, Stargate: Atlantis, The Batman, Day Break and of course, The X-Files. However I think we can all agree his career best has got to be his uncredited role as “Tony the Hitman” in the blockbuster, Vampire in Brooklyn.
Built for battle but destined for Sci-Fi and Fantasy. Jason so far has a trifecta of badass roles including “Ronon Dex” in Stargate: Atlantis, “Khal Drogo” in Game of Thrones, and Conan the Barbarian. Plus he’s one of the few people on the planet I won’t make fun of for having dreadlocks.
Talented, stunning and star of a large portion of the best TV shows of the last decade or two. Julie’s most famous performances include key roles in A Gifted Man, Dexter, No Ordinary Family, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, and Roswell.
Creator/Co-creator of the greatest line up of Superheroes ever: Spider-Man, the Hulk, the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, Iron Man, Thor, and hundreds more. He’s practically the reason any decent geek event exists!
One or more of those things are true of the real-life award winning Shakespearian actor, but it doesn’t matter which one because any of them are reason enough for him the main attraction at this con.
